Thank you for your reply. And, possibly unrelated to your issue, I too have noticed something wonky when trying to redefine the PIN_BUTTON and PIN_BUZZER in the andy app for Meshtastic…losing functionality of the Wio board USER BUTTON. More testing to be done.
In re your reception issues, with the patch antenna I have not much problem getting a DM to my house from across town. Of course, with my patch antenna I do not see a cascade of nodes spilling down the screen. I going order up some new rubber duckies for these Wio boards, that should get me going.
Will update here.
All the best,
yes… i live in very flat land… and get mainly line of sight reception… I was able to get 3,000 ft radius on the range test from this unit to a Tracker 1000-E
Tracker 1110 red unit gets like no reception… like 100 yards max direct line of sight
Have you tried testing the Xiao node alone? Without any other nodes operating nearby?
Interesting. I also have some Heltec V3 nodes and can easily connect with more than 100 nodes in my area. Some of them several kilometers away. There are at least 200 active nodes in my area.
If I have a Heltec node operating nearby, my Xiao node will collect numerous nodes in the list. With the Heltec node turned off I cannot see any other nodes, but if I wiggle the antenna connection on one of my Xiao nodes, I am sometimes able to collect about 30 nearby nodes.
Not yet. I am about five days out from getting a pair of Heltec V3s (N30 cased stubby ducky) up and running, and about two days out from receiving my Xiao rigs. So, am new to all this.
Deep diving the literature and fora. Perhaps “range testing” is the method to use to respond on your question? I would like to be able to answer your question. Feel free, anyone, to advise me on this.

I have ENABLED the External Notifications with settings in below screen grab. Once done, have not noticed any ensuing problems with changing settings elsewhere in Meshtastic android app.
I have also recently run a range test with a Heltec V3.2 stationary/sender and Xiao S3-Wio receiver/logger rig. Preliminary results can be viewed in my earlier “sandwich post”.
All the best,

Hi,
im currently trying to get my gps tracking on my meshtastic xiao esp32s3 & wio-sx1262 kit working with the L76K GNSS Module for SeeedStudio XIAO… unfortunately i cant get any coordinates… the module signale via blinking green LED that it has locked on satelites and meshtastic works, i set the Pins in the Node config to TX 7 and RX 6 an also in the module menue with the Baudrate to 9600.
Maybe you can give me a short explanation how you had gotten that to work?
Thanks in advance
Hi there,
C’mon DHL… LOL My FOMO is kicking Hard on this order of S3-lora sandwich set boards , Haven’t arrived yet. Dag-NABIT! Slow boat for sure. We used to call them (Day & Half Late) I did some UPGRADES & fix up’s at their Ft Lauderdale Data-Center years back, pretty good gig.
How does the GSS supplement this Stackup?

Whatz Upppp!

Hi PJ Glasso,
Here is the tracking information for Your Order #4000241853:
●Shipping Carrier: 4px
●Tracking Number: CNUSUP000154123456
Weeeee…
try reversing the pins… also try the GPIO pin number… also try with TinyGPSPlus-ESP32… you should be able to install the lib directly from Arduino IDE
My meshtastic with XIAO Expansion Board and aftermarket GPS on UART works
thanks for the response, unfortunatly it hasn´t worked, maybe you can walk me a little bit through how you got that thing working and the your settings that work
I´m relatively new to this, and all what i tried with the help of the internet an AI hasnt worked, i think i oversee something that rudimental that nobody thought it would be a problem…
first do you have the new or old GPS unit? if it was purchased a long time ago it is the old one… they had to change some pins to make it work correctly
second install Arduino IDE and TinyGPSPlus-ESP32 and see if you can get the example program to read data from the unit

Hello –
You should not have to do anything for your S3-Wio kit with L76K. Meshtastic firmware will auto detect and get you going. May take couple minutes out in open from cold start. I find L76K to get quick locks. In my sandwich post linked above can pretty much see ez start up.
Clear out any settings you changed or do a fresh flash of firmware.
Let us know how this goes for you.
