reTerminal E1004 display refresh issue

Hello,

I am running E1004 for few months. I started with embedded SenseCraft solution, but it’s very limited. Therefore I integrate it via ESPHome Device Builder into my HomeAssistant (same like my E1001) and with Claude I prepared my own configuration to display things like family calendar etc…
This solution was working fine whole time but since yesterday I have very weird status on my display - it looks like left half of display is ghosting and wrongly refreshed (see picture bellow)… I was able somehow fix it via removing it from charging cable and put it for few hours in off. Then ghosting was somehow gone and it was working again fine. This morning I have issue back and during diagnostic steps I recognized, that green LED diod (during power on) is doing nothing… Just red LED diod during charging is working…

Any idea what can be root cause? Is display somehow divided internally to 2 parts?

Hi there,

And Glad you got it going good, I like them allot. I think it’s a defect though, some have reported similar. Do you have some code to initialize and write all white? Sometime during the Night You may want to clear it and re-write it, I think the issue is they “need” refreshed.. Abnormally to keep from failing this way. Pretty sure yours is the only one recoverable at this point, idunno. I see the discord thread about the half and half syndrome.

I just received the Live stream winner unit I won, E1002 (7.3") color.
can’t wait to fire that up too, but I really ,really like the E1003
