I’m new to XIAO and would like make a camera based water meter reader with POE, to pass readings to Home Assistant.
The water meter is away from the house but I have a cable conduit from the Home Automation box to the water meter box.
XIAO ESP32S3 Sense seems the way to go as SenseCraft even has a Digital Water Meter model .
But I’m unsure how to add POE.
XIAO W5500 Ethernet Adapter V1.2 has POE and a XIAO ESP32S3 but the showcased version with camera is not available and the Plug-in camera sensor board of the Sense isn’t either as a separate item.
I could buy a XIAO W5500 Ethernet Adapter V1.2 a POE and a XIAO ESP32S3 Sense and combine but I would be buying an extra XIAO ESP32S3, an antena and a case that I don’t need.
More importantly I’m not sure I could combine on the same XIAO ESP32S3 the functionality of running the AI system and managing the ethernet connection.
Also the fact that the XIAO W5500 Ethernet Adapter with camera was pictured many months ago but no publicly released yet is not reassuring.
Is the W5500+Sense the way to go or are there any more possibilities?
