Xiao ESP32C3 SMD footprint

Hi All,

I am looking at using the Xiao ESP32C3 in a low/medium volume product. Can I:

  1. Get boards made and assembled by Seeed Fusion. populated with Xiao ESP32C3 modules and other SMD components?

  2. Is it possible to design the board with pads to connect to the battery and JTAG pads, and possibly the thermal pad, on the Xiao ESP32C3 module so I can add a JST socket for the LiPo cell and add Tag Connect pads to the main board production programming and testing.

  3. Would Seeed Fusion be able to perform this assembly with a reasonable level of reliability? Would I need to specify anything special?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

I’m pretty sure the answer to all your questions is yes. Reach out to Seeed here: Seeed Fusion One-Stop PCB Assembly & Custom Hardware Manufacturing I plan on doing the same, but I am not quite there yet. You should check with @PJ_Glasso as I think he’s had Seeed do his manufacturing.

Hi there,

Yea, so I have had bords made , but not assembled. Very good product.
I wanted to try a roll your own end-to-end So I setup with EasyEDA and in it you can go from Schematic to PCB to built units delivered in about a week if not to complex.
They use JLCPCB as the board house with easyeda, but all the files export and import into seeeds Fusion PCB service. They are more familiar and I had to chase down some hard to solder parts to make one project happen. It is amazing what you can do TODAY!
---- At BlackBox Data Communications Co. the Catalog folks, We had a floor of engineers and cad guys and wave solder machines, but it still took months to get anything in solder and then , test and then reviewed and approved and FCC’d and YOI…
Today takes about 7 days and you holding it in your hand ready to program. Unless of course you provide the code to flash to the parts.
either way you can’t go wrong. The DRC in the cad and there online support with your order it’s almost too easy. :+1:

Definitely give them a run.

Thank you. I have a lot of experience of getting boards made by various Chinese manufacturers.

I want to get boards made and populated. I tried to contact Seeed Fusion but that is not possible. The Contact link on the website is broken.

I was asking if there any special considerations, such as paste coverage and stencil thickness.

I finally found what I am looking for. See this:

There is a PDF to download with footprints on it. No mention of paste considerations but I’ll try it.

That’s an interesting article, thanks for posting it. I’m still using good old fashioned through holes and solder for my project, although it seems inevitable that when I get closer to having it mass produced (hopefully), I will have to switch to surface mount.

Hi there,

Great stuff… So you know the SMD gets’ rid of the need for a drill file too, so manufacture step is one less and faster as well as less $$ just saying…  also the components are way smaller compare a Legged 555 with an SMD wow what a difference, less real-estate too!

as you were,

coming from an old Pcad, Orcad , Netlist junky route until you die team. WAY back so holes I know. :+1:
