Wio-E5 Mini conectivity issues with SenseCap M2 gateway

Hello,
CONTEXT:
I am using Wio-E5 mini and SenseCap M2 gateway to set up LoRaWAN with Chirpstack V4 as LNS, running at IN865 LoRa frequency for communication. I have around 20 Wio mini devices spread between 2 SenseCap M2 gateways, with each Sensecap m2 gateway handling 10 devices.

I have placed all these devices in a separate closed mild steel enclosure cabinet. The 2 gateways are set up within 100 meters of the devices. The devices are power with an AC supply and Wio-E5 Mini is supplied with 5V DC after AC to DC conversion.

I have used this repo GitHub - danak6jq/Seeed-LoRa-E5: LoRaWAN end node built from scratch using CubeMX for WLE5x in the LoRa-E5 for establishing LoRa communication. Every device sends data of around 150 bytes in a 3 minute interval. To prevent many join requests at the same time I have given delay of 10 to 20 seconds for each device

ISSUE:
Now the problem is some of these devices are going offiline after power shutdown and no join requests are sent to Chirpstack LNS even though device is sending join request to gateway . This problem occurs only in the devices connected to one of the SenseCap m2 gateway. Out of the 10 devices only 3 of them are online now but in the other gateway all 10 of the devices are online and sending data properly.

The antenna used are the ones which came with the kit for both Wio mini and SenseCap M2 Gateway. The last transmission SNR and RSSI of the devices that went offline were around in the range of

  • 6 to 3 SNR
  • -111 to -104 RSSI

Some of the devices also went to DR 3/ SF 9 leading to data loss and no rejoin request is observed after the device going offline.

Could anyone tell me what the problem could be. Can a closed steel box cause this much interferance that even transmission within 100 meters is not possible. If high power antenna is required to transmit data from the closed steel box.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance…

Hi there,

Definitely sounds like an antenna Problem, you check all the fittings?
You got a picture of this fine apparatus?

Yes all checked, unfortunately cannot provide the photos. But the antenna is connected well to both gateway and device. Used the antenna that came with the SenseCap M2 gateway and the one with Wio-E5 Mini kit.
