Upgrade Jetpack 7.2 image for J501 carrier board information

Hi there,

I have a question regarding JetPack upgrades. The latest image from Seeed for the J501 carrier board is currently based on JetPack 6.2. As far as I understand, NVIDIA plans to release JetPack 7.2 in Q2 2026 with extended support for Jetson AGX Orin, along with newer TensorRT versions (e.g., 13.x), which I would like to use.

Could you please share if Seeed has any plan or tentative timeline to release a JetPack 7.x (or specifically 7.2) image for the J501 carrier board?

From my side, it seems quite difficult to build a fully functional custom image based on NVIDIA’s BSP alone due to missing hardware-specific configurations (e.g., device tree, power settings, etc.), so an official release from Seeed would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi there,

And , Yes We feel your pain…
Typically Seeed release’s follow after a rigorous testing period to be sure.
NVIDIA claims this :
NVIDIA JetPack releases are deemed “ready for prime time” (production-ready) through a structured, multi-stage release process that includes extensive testing, performance optimizations, and stabilization periods, often moving from Developer Previews to final Production Releases

They (seeed) have made significant improvements with the addition of some AI testing agents. I would expect as soon as the NVIDIA is marked
Jetson Roadmap says JetPack 7 will be released this August with kernel 6.8 and Ubuntu 24.04. TensorRT will finally be refreshed too… Word on the street
:speaking_head: :detective:

You have a ways to go Yet so , I would bone up on what we have and get your build skill badge  in the meantime and in between time. (thanks DAVE :+1:)

Have you looked at the Seeed DTS lately ?

Hi, I’m looking for details on Jetpack 7.2 release aswell.

Your quote “Jetson Roadmap says JetPack 7 will be released this August with kernel 6.8 and Ubuntu 24.04*”* is from 2025 and Jetpack 7 is already out there (we are at version 7.1). According to NVIDIA forums, Jetpack 7.2 should be released in early June.

Is there any idea on what is the delay between NVIDIA’s release and the Seeed’s updated system image?

Thanks

Hi there,

Well they either all left for the year  or they are working on something BIG?
the silence is defining , LOL .

I’ll send up a flare and see what comes back… Hang in there.
The quote was from the JETSON TAX MAN himself , so..often the handoff to seeed is LAST , unfortunately.

But they always manage to pull through..:crossed_fingers:

I’ll post back what I hear or see. :+1:

Hi and thanks for your reply!

Don’t get me wrong, it is absolutely normal that there is yet no system image for Jetpack 7 since it is not compatible with Jetson ORIN, the support for them will be added only in version 7.2.

I just want to know if there is an “official” timeline from Seeed or o general idea of how long it usually take to ship a system image after a new Jetpack release.
