I have the app on Android and can see the location of my unit next to me. I want to see a trail of it’s presence when I take it for a walk. It seems so basic. I do it with dog trackers and can save the events. I must be missing something here.
No idea what you mean by the Arduino IDE. I did not see any reference to it in the videos or docs.
If you keep the phone app open and connected to the tracker it should show the route on the map the only problem is if you have the phone and tracker together… you could just do it with your phone

Yes, you’re absolutely right! Google Maps has a feature called “Timeline” that allows you to see your route history and the trail of locations you’ve visited. It acts sort of like a breadcrumb trail of where you’ve been. Here’s how you can view your route history or breadcrumb trail on Google Maps:
Using Google Maps Timeline on Your Mobile Phone (Android & iOS)
- Open Google Maps on your smartphone.
- Tap your Profile Icon (top right corner).
- Select “Your Timeline” from the menu.
- You’ll see a timeline of the places you’ve been, with dates and routes.
- You can select a particular date to see the detailed path you took on that day.
Features:
- Shows a continuous path (breadcrumb trail) of your route.
- You can view the exact routes you took, how you traveled (walking, driving, etc.), and even stops you made.
- Allows you to export location data if needed.
Requirements:
- Location History must be enabled on your Google Account.

Now, How Does This Compare to the T1000E Tracker?
The T1000E tracker likely logs its trail separately within its app. However, if you want to overlay that same trail in Google Maps, you would have to export the GPS log file from the T1000E tracker’s app and convert it to a compatible format (KML or GPX file).
Would you like to ? You can ** export the T1000E tracker trail and import it into Google Maps or Google Earth for a visual breadcrumb trail**? Also, it is possible to combine data from the T1000E tracker and your phone’s GPS for a comprehensive trail? 
if the T1000 E does save the location data? YMMV

I also use the Google maps API & key to get location with Xiao so pretty much anything is possible if the hardware can hang

yes i believe the log can be exported… I have loaned my tracker out so i cant test right now… but that was also a example solution
I just bought 2 units and I have exactly the same problem. My position is a mile away on both units. Dilute accuracy is disabled. And right now one unit has died!!! While I am writing this post.
YES this is a thing… i am not sure why… also if a unit is dead you have to put it on charge .. do the double click procedure press the button in a random order and it should boot… if you connect to a serial monitor you should be able to see if it is alive… It is very important to not allow the battery to go dead because if the lipo battery voltage gets too low it will not take a charge

I pulled out my T1000-E from my box… it was dead, plugged into a power supply, did the magnetic double click and it came right on no problem
were you monkeying around with the firmware?
new power supply bricks will not source current if it is too low… the way they work is if the device connected does not communicate its power requirements via USB-C or sink a minimum current it will assume nothing is connected… to get around this.. i connect a phone to my power brick, then it will stay awake and power the T1000 from the second port. This will also happen with XIAO because some draw so little power to accomplish simple tasks or if sleep is being used
PS seeed is on weekend and nobody is home, check workday from your location… here in USA they are 12 hours ahead of us, but tech support is not able to take the time to work thru this. especially if you have bricked with a firmware update… its just no way to know what you did.
also no need to bother them any further, we will figure what is going on from here

As far as defective, i can assure you it is not defective, they are unable to send a new unit every time the battery is drained too far… or firmware updated… you are talking about a $40 product and shipping. I can say for sure if a defect was known, seeed would know by the version and serial number and would surely make it right. I myself had a defective XIAO that for some reason had intermittant wifi connection issues, and seeed identified the defect and sent a replacement.
I am sure if we are able to identify a new defect, they will be willing to investigate and issue a replacement, but for us to be able to do this, we will need to exactly identify the steps that caused the problem and be able to reproduce the problem and indntify the defect.
As you can understand this requires more information than you have provided.
I can say for sure that with the exception of meshatstic, and even including meshtastic, seeed units from the factory do not require firmware updates. Scammers, especially on discord will tell you to update firmware and get a bitcoin wallet and will link you to a spoofing website to download malware. With that being said, if you post some detailed information, i will try to replicate the problem and solution on my end and help or get some info from seeed on your behalf
