Odyssey X86 - Defective FAN

Gents,

I’ve done both firmware and EC updates to my X86J4105 but the fan still does the annoying ticking sound in “Normal” mode.
“Always on” does what it says but it’s loud, and “disabled” switches the fan off completely.
But what I need it the Normal mode to work. Any ideas?

Currently my odyssey has the latest
BIOS firmware SD-BS-CJ41G-300-101-H (wiki release date 16/08/2021) and
EC firmware SD-EC-CJ41G-M-101-Q (wiki release date 10/12/2021) (which shows as “EC version 02.0D.09” in the BIOS screen)

Update: It finally works. I had to redo the BIOS update and religiously follow the steps 4 & 5:

Step 4 - Reboot

  • When the BIOS is upgraded, press the ON/OFF button, and you should see the blue light goes off.
  • Unplug the DC power jack and RTC battery from the ODYSSEY-X86.
  • Wait a couple of minutes
  • Plug the RTC battery and DC power jack back to the ODYSSEY-X86.
  • Press the ON/OFF button and wait patiently. You should see the blue light goes on.

Step 5 - Wait Patiently

Please wait patiently and DO NOT unplug power (or the hardware) to corrupt the updating process. The process will take 6 ~ 8 minutes, feel free for a coffee break!
