nRF54LM20A expands the nRF54L Series

Nordic Semiconductor just announced the launch of nRF54LM20A, the latest addition to the next-generation nRF54L Series of ultra-low power wireless SoCs

The nRF54LM20A expands the nRF54L Series with a high-memory option, featuring 2 MB NVM and 512 KB RAM, while maintaining the same MCU functionality with a 128 Arm Cortex-M33 processor, RISC-V coprocessor and enhancing the comprehensive peripheral set with high-speed USB and up to 66 GPIOs.

Maybe this could help for Matter OTA without the need of image compression within MCUboot.

Hi there,

Yes, Indeed it was on the technology road-map back when they started talking about the 54 Series, However the Issue is NOT with the Matter Implementations and fitting it, right. see the verbiage below the chart you pasted.

" It is particularly well-suited for Human Interface Devices (HID), including gaming peripherals that require low-latency wireless connectivity and high-speed USB. It is also ideal for smart home devices as the 2 MB of non-volatile memory and 512 KB of RAM can fit a Matter implementation with ample overhead for the application without needing external memory. "

But the fact is, You must have 2 Slots for the crash proof OTA DFU with or without the immutable bootloader MCUBoot, The whole workaround with the compression is B>S> they know it, It is certainly why they have Extra flash on the DK boards, now they learned there lesson from the 52 Series DK’s that do not have it, and the 52 Series Xiao DOES have external Flash, How in the sam hill Seeed missed that one is Proof None of this is easy. I don’t see the 20 making it into the Xiao (tiny form factor)

Look at the size of that thing it’s a whopper

More IO is what you get really and another .5 meg of NVM too over the L15 part (small csp package though) fits under the can.
If the Seeedineers just add the ext QSPI flash, they will have all that is needed to get the most out of the series and one that closely resembles the original Xiao nrf52840 (may need to lose the user button too, and bring back RGB LED) the Mole :male_detective:says they are getting a lot of feedback to this effect, the LOUD kind :speaking_head:
You shrink the overall size of the App space when you start compressing the DFU slot spaces, NOT a fan :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: screams “short cut” to me.
They can do better and will. (example is the BareMetal SDK,and the MCU_manager app) BLE DFU example it is sweet, if I can do that with the Xiao nRF54L15 that is some magic trick stuff right there. :magic_wand: :dizzy:

Great Nordic Parts though IMO. and they had a road map for their stuff 3-4 years ago. Thanks for bringing the receipts :+1:

my .02 on it,

Actually, I agree with you.

Hi there,

Yep, We are NOT alone on this one, they will make adjustments I’m sure.
It has the potential to be the BEST in Class for XIAO…but they must get the configuration nailed down.

EVERYONE TESTING … definitely let your results out and make suggestions, NOW is the Time! :+1:
