Is Mini Lidar affected by daylight?

Hi. I am using the TF Mini Lidar to meassure snowdepth. I have been using mini Lidar for a Year, and it has been pretty accurate. But now it seems to be more and more affected by the change in night and day-light. The meassurements has a deviation of up to 8 cm in the daytime versus night-time. The Lidar is conencted to a Raspberry Pi that is powered by a solar power system. It could be variations in the power supply. But I have connected it through a 5v voltage regulator, so I dont think that should be the problem.
Is the TF mini Lidar normally affected by light ? Is there anything I can do to minimize this ?
You can see the resulting meassurement graph on my webpage here:

You can also see how I have buildt it physically here:

It should be screened from direct light.
Doeas anyone have expereience with this problem ?
