Hi, I just got the SenseCAP Card Track T1000-E and it came with no user manual or even a QR code to get one. I did some research on the Internet, but it only confused me even more. So I hope that my basic questions will not offend anybody for being really primitive. Here we go:
The T1000-E has temperature, light, accelerometer and GPS and Bluetooth. Where/how do I display that data on my Android phone’s Meshtastic application?
I found out that I should use the SenseCAP app on Android, except that none of the scanning works, and I cannot see the MAC address anywhere, how do I find it? BTW - the QR code which MUST be entered (along the MAC address!) is NOT scannable through the “transparent” case. So how am I supposed to even open an account.
is there a user manual online for the T1000-E? If yes, can you please send me the URL?
rankly, this is the 2nd time I am pre-ordering a device only to find out that “pre-order” means, raw, undocumented, buggy and otherwise botched hardware and, especially, software. For example, as I mentioned, the QR code si clearly placed in a stupid position where one cannot read it. And reading it is required to launch the SenseCAP app which, apparently, is the only way to get the sensor data which, of course, the folks at SeedStudio forgot to mention in their marketing flyers.
One company, Rokland, send me a good device with all that is needed. So far I am 1:4 (the other three purchases were garbage).
I tried to get help on the Meshtastic FB group. It was a waste of time. The replies where useless.
If nobody helps me here, I will try the discord channel. After that I might just ditch it all - it is not work the aggravation imho.
So far I have at 5% fun and 95% frustration.
They did not mention that in the ad for this device…
Did you try and turn it on, then pair with the meshtastic app? It comes with meshtastic installed already and should just connect.
There are some other threads here that the online meshtastic firmware update might have a version that does not work at the latest version, but the one shipped paired for me.
Take a look at the wiki for documentation:
yes,I did, the Meshtastic app works fine. But it does not show the data (temperature, light, accelerometer and GPS and Bluetooth, wifi).
Nor does it tell me how to get the MAC address. And the page you recommend does not contain any of that info either
Thanks anyways!
Ah, sorry, I misunderstood that you had the basic meshtastic connection working. I thought I saw some discussion from the meshtastic team that the sensor data was not all working yet. But I believe GPS should be.
I’m sorry your experience is disappointing. It seems your disappointment is mostly with Meshtastic and the Android app. It’s good to manage expectations with Meshtastic: it is beta software built by volunteers for tech savvy people willing to experiment, I couldn’t fully recommend it to end users. While the T1000-E is such a neat pre-packaged product it looks like an end-user product.
A simple hint: in the Android software, go to the list of detected nodes. press on the name of your node and the details should expand, showing your location and temperature. Unfortunately the Android software doesn’t show the lux values yet, and the accelerometer isn’t working in the Meshtastic firmware.
also i think the app s
is showing weather information that it ie extrapolating from your location via internet foracast and not actual reedings… which i do not like… i dont need that
Receive and display data from a T1000-E via Meshtastic: Temperature .... Not possible Light .......... Not possible Accelerometer .. Not possible GPS ............ Temporarily, special configuration needed, no display
Please correct me if I got something wrong. I almost bought several trackers, good luck I found this thread before.
Hm, I don´t fully understand your answer. Let me check that for you
Contains a question: check
Contains a statement: check
Contains lack of understanding: check
But seriously, I’d really appreciate it if your answer could help change the status of the T1000-E’s abilities, so that it not only has sensors, but that they can also be made usable.
Temperature
I am surprised. Your last post made it sound like the temperature value is not being read from the tracker’s temperature sensor, but provided by an internet forecast.
Is that shown ‘79°’ temperature reading in your screenshot an actual reading from the 5f5a-tracker itself and accessible from a second Meshtastic node?
GPS
That screenshot of the map, showing the 5f5a-tracker at the end of a dashed line, is the “Position Log” of that tracker? Are the GPS coordinates delivered from the 5f5a-tracker itself and accessible from an second Meshtastic node?
Is it possible to access Light and Accelerometer data from an other Meshtastic node?
this image shows you a good example of the range of “line of sight” on the ground in urban areas
my device was near ground level riding in a car window looking out
I have no idea where the green node is… it is possable this node was high in a building… maybe a hotel… in this area i would assume no higher than 5 story or 15 meter off the ground
the ping went from my tracker 1000-E and double hopped … first to the green node… then hopped to the red and blue nodes, separatly, then acknowledgement back to the green node and then to my tracker
The land in this area is otherwise completely flat
I estimate the radius of the green node circle is approximatly 2-2.5 miles
Would you be so kind to put that tracker in your trouser pocket and see if it will adjust to almost body temperature or stay at an environmental level?
GPS
If my vehicle gets stolen, it’s very likely that it will be put out of range of my Bluetooth-connected smartphone. Wouldn’t a tracker - that is hidden in my vehicle to track its position - be useless if it only transmitted GPS data via short-range Bluetooth?
I actually did that… i just didnt go into details… the 79 degree was the temp inside the car and inside my jacket pocket… the outside temp was 32 deg F
