gpxcam-t1000e — custom firmware turning the T1000-E into a phone-free camera GPS tracker
My Lumix S5II’s companion app kept dropping its Bluetooth GPS connection, so I replaced the T1000-E’s stock firmware with my own — a small, dedicated BLE GPS beacon for the camera.
What it does:
Pairs with the camera over BLE and sends a location fix every 25s while it’s powered on
Never wakes a sleeping camera
Battery lasts very long on a single charge
Setup/config (timezone, update frequency, clock sync) via a browser page — no app needed
Companion desktop app for Linux/Windows/macOS (Tauri) for pairing
Your WHOLE Problem / Solution approach is OUTSTANDING, a CLINIC if you will.
If anyone half technical wants to see the proper EVERYTHING… This is it.
it’s a clinic on how to do and document a project on a professional level.
You’re Concept and method to bypass, app & eco system, etc. Your documentation is chalk full of TECHNICAL tidbits, that shows you put in the work. BRAVO.
The Hardware run downs and walk throughs for example and my favorite:wink: are TOP level
I encourage EVERYONE to go give it a look even if it’s not your field of interest, Camera GPS photo data etc. SO many of the aspects can be applied to other sectors.
Your blow by blow on the Adafruit bootloader is one I have never seen, everyone should LQQK. I like how you don’t use the Lora and sensors either, it YOUR device make it what you want, LOVE THAT!
Thank you for the contribution, I will certainly benefit from it…
and feel strongly others will to.

Thanks, PJ — that means a lot.
Not touching the LoRa radio or sensors was a deliberate call too — the card only needs to do one thing well, so the less it’s doing, the fewer places for something to go wrong on a multi-hour connection with the camera.
