I want my gprs shield to be able to give me the current location, and I want to be able to store this on my .SD card.

thanks once again Chen but my problem is I do not seem able to get any reply from the software serial after sending the AT command for location.

Maybe you can use hardware serial to have a try. And it may need USB to serial port product, such as UartSBee or other products. Good luck.
