Connect more than 2 digital Grove Accessories

Hi,

Is there a way/bypass to connect more than 2 digital Grove Accessories?

Thanks

Hi there,
can you expound on this , What is it you are trying to accomplish ?
Are they digital IO’s or i2c or SPI, Grove supports all three.
which Devices and what MCU?

Hi,

For example, 4 Digital LED sticks and Wio terminal. I wish to avoid soldering.

Thx.

Hi there,
I would say YES, but which LED sticks? How do you plan on connection to Wio Terminal
(terminal has two Grove connectors) you could use a port expander or a Piece of the Expansion board that breaks off , leaving 4 connectors.(for no solder solution)

check the WiKi for grove expansion board. :v:

Grove - RGB LED Stick (10 - WS2813 Mini) is the model and which port expander do you recommend?
How can I access each Digital address separately (D0-D3)

Hi there,
Check out the connectors, they (grove) bring out D0-D9
there is only one , the other is a dev board.

Other than the power, how that is connected? Should work fine with those.
There’s a Youtube video or RNerds demo, of that exact connection, and hardware to a Xiao.
:v:
You can use one of these to get solderless access to ALL the GPIO’s

OK. So the grove is limited.

Where can I find the Solderless Pinout Board you mentiond?

Hi there,
You can use the grove connectors on the Wio terminal, Looking at the schematic , D0,D1,D2 & D3 are available there. That rp compatible breakout with terminals is on Amazon, $9-$10 bucs.

use the magnifier up in the corner , and Look for “Grove Expansion” you’ll see avatars next to the topics. look at what I’ve posted previously, pictures, Videos and Code are included. :v:
also the Wiki has easy to find sub topics for specific components too.

FYI

You can either hub or multiplex fependong on your requirements

Hub

this device just connects all the wires together giving multiple connections to a "Bus

Multiplex means a switch that controls which connections are made at any given time

They are only working for I2C as I understand, not for digital.

Hi there,
Indeed they are, How ever this unit breaks out D0,D1,D2,D3 and more.
Check it out, and you can bust off a piece for just the physical connectors.

Not understanding this. Am new to Wio.

Like how Wio has a commercial form factor. Was hoping to get an add-on that also has commercial appearance (not break-out board, not something that needs an enclosure) that has another 4-6 grove module connectors, plus a cable that plugs into one of the two connectors on the Wio Terminal. Does such a thing exist?

Also, would add that some of the sensors I want to add will need longer cables.

It’s hard to find details on the Wio or Grove electrical specifications (any links for “internals”?).

For example, how long can a Grove module cable be, without needing some sort of booster? Can you buy extension cables of 6’, for example?

Hi there,

So that’s a VALID question, I wondered about that , As I see MStack has ripped off Seeed’s WIO terminal too, Espressif bought M5Stack so Won’t be long b4 they are shilling that cheap stuff all over… But I digress
They Have this :

Close, but I would just get the Seeed unit, (passive) and 3D print an enclosure box for it. But that’s just me.

it’s pretty much a box type enclosure. How many ports?

I see, I think? Yes, I can 3D print enclosures, that’s fair.

Can you buy a cord to attach the expansion unit to one of the Grove connectors on the terminal unit, then? Amd are various/length extension cords available to attach Grove sensors?

Am not sure why you use the word “passive”. The name “terminal” throws me off as it normally indeed describes a passive device–but it’s a SBC…right???

Hi there,

Yes, & yes… to both. I only mention that as there are Active port splitters also, these passive units just increase the physical number of ports. If you got the 3D printer chops then That’s for sure the way to go. I use freecad and whip up stuff all the time , look at some old posts. You can customize it to really fit your needs. plus pick a color YOU like  :ok_hand:

we might could request the powers that be to make longer cables if you want

Hi there,

I would like to see a Back to Back MALE connector without any cable.
I may 3d print something like it. :crossed_fingers: or F/F also. Something like a barrel BNC connector or RJ-45 joiner (F/F). this way you could plug in and plg-in both sides. and its rigid. albeit a flexible one would be cool too.

i also what this with a ATtiny on the board to convert digital to IIC
