5v signal sensor + XIAO

I have a 5v sensor that I was hoping to use with my first battery powered XIAO project. What’s the best way to deal with the signal voltage mismatch? Is it possible to use the XIAO shield, and if not what’s the recommended way to charge / manage batteries?
