Whenever the image WON’T update and appears frozen, the ee03 is still functioning fully and flashable, only the display is frozen
I see some users had this too.
Turns out the cable that ships with the unit is the culprit. it’s 1" too long per the spec’s and when you send it text it is not a problem, BUT
send one of these SWEET Photo’s and it may hang tighter than two coats of paint. M|ine did exactly that and was repeatable.
TO fix it, I removed the EXTRA piece and connect directly to the ee03 , load the factory flash and do the Deep clean /DE ghost process, and it comes back AOK,
Reflash and it runs perfectly (with no extension cable) is what I find.

The push toward mandatory cloud ecosystems like SenseCraft/Seeedash turns perfectly capable, power-efficient hardware into an internet-dependent terminal. Relying on an external cloud broker to push a frame to a local 13.3" Spectra 6 display or 10.3" Mono Hi-Res completely ignores offline reliability, zero-latency local updates, and data privacy.
Using an [EE02 Driver Board] or EE03 Driver Board (https://www.seeedstudio.com/XIAO-ePaper-Display-Board-ESP32-S3-EE02-p-6639.html) with an onboard XIAO ESP32-S3 Plus while trapping the high-speed storage potential makes standalone dashboards unnecessarily difficult. A dedicated daughterboard carrying a local micro-SD interface solves this by serving full-color 13.3" Spectra 6 bitmaps, cycling dashboards locally, and pulling directly from local networks (ESPHome/Home Assistant via MQTT) rather than a remote cloud service.
Honestly Idunno if they are just cranking stuff out and no-one looks close enough to see what opportunity for additional product functional enhancements are ignored or not considered. Baffles the mind. I see this more and more, no synergy for what work they have already done, Here for example the S3 Sense product has a daughter card for the camera and an SD slot. That SD should be compatible with all the B2B based S3 or Plus designs there after, only requires someone to audit the pins they are using in a professional manner. i.e. Don’t be LAZY 
Same situ, with the LORA board, (one pin) keeps that from a PLUG and PLAY Lora capable display. WTH guy’s and GALs?

So , this is all they need to make any S3 or S3+ based board , i.e. EE02 or EE03 a banger IMHO 
can’t use my MORE_I/O daughter card , it hits the stupid battery connector.
(180, causes pin issues) I’ll make an Interposer that passes through and flips things correctly. coming soon.
