BeagleBone Green Wireless will not install drivers on Windows 7

Post by johnsor2 » Sun Aug 26, 2018 4:21 am

I recently purchased a BeagleBone Green Wireless, and I am trying to set it up using my Windows 7 laptop. When I plug the device into my laptop, It says that it is an unrecognized device, and then in Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", it is listed as "Unknown Device". I have tried downloading the drivers as stated on http://wiki.seeedstudio.com/BeagleBone_Green_Wireless/ . Those were successfully installed, but the device is still not recognized. All I have done so far is take the device out of the box, plug it into my laptop, and try and install drivers. I cannot access 192.168.7.2 in my browser I assume because the drivers are not installed correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

which image do you use? please try Debian 9.4 2018-06-17 4GB SD LXQT image.

With the latest images, it should no longer be necessary to install drivers for your operating system to give you network-over-USB access to your Beagle. In case you are running an older image, an older operating system or need additional drivers for serial access to older boards, please follow step 2 of http://beagleboard.org/getting-started to install the drivers. please let us know if the issue is not solved. thanks.

Thanks for the reply. We are using Debian 9.5 for a class at school. I have also installed the drivers as stated in the "getting started" wiki. Sometimes it does connect, but most times it does not. Also, when it does connect, it does not usually stay connected.
