MicroSD error

Hi! Im trying to save the waveform in my SD card, and it says “Micro SD Err”
I loaded in the memory card the files in the DSO Nano FAQ: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=534
The card is formated FAT16.
The capacity is 2GB, Kingstone
I read that the Paul’s 1.5 firmware doesnt support cards above 1gb.
does the oficial v2.0.2 has the same problem?
Right now is very difficult to find memory cards below 2GB :imp:

Hi,
I am also having a hard time getting a card to work.

I have a PNY 2G. I started by formatting it in my camera before I put it in my Nano. The Nano, says it has saved my settings, but it doesn’t. I am getting an SD error when I try to save a file.

I get the following when I plug the Nano in a usb port on my PC:
Jun 13 04:17:28 Cosmo kernel: [143962.757852] usb 4-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

Jun 13 04:17:33 Cosmo kernel: [143967.780064] sd 9:0:0:0: [sdf] Attached SCSI removable disk

fdisk can’t handle it at this point either.

The card works fine if I plug it into a usb card reader.

So what’s the best way to get a card working in the Nano?

Bad news dude.
I bought a 1GB micro SD and it worked, so i think the DSO doesnt support 2GB or bigger cards.
To bad, because its very very difficult to find microSD smaller than 2GB.
My question now is, how do i SEE the saved waveform in my PC?

Thanks.
You don’t have to tell me about 1G cards being hard to find.
I was certain, that with the right partitioning and formating I could get a 2Gb to work.
Newegg has Kingston 1Gbs for $7.50. I just put one on order.

Hi all,
Once more at trying to get the microSD to work. I finally got a Transcend 1G. I formatted it in my camera and on my PC. I connected to Nano to the PC and formatted from there. No matter what I’ve tried, the Nano just says “File NoPlace,” and trashes the partition table.
What’s the proper procedure for getting the SD to work?

Follow up: I reread the manual, and saw that I need to create a blank FILE001.DAT. I now get SD error and a corrupt partition.

Please refer to FAQ for SD card handling. Thanks!

Link doesn’t work.

Guys, i just bought dso nano v2, there is your instruction:
1 . Make sure your SDcard supports SPI mode. (Most SDHC and over 2GB card does not)
2 . Format your SDcard with FAT16
3 . Create a new file named FILEXXX.DAT in your SDcard root (file size must bigger than 1KB). Or directly
download from dso.seeedstudio.com and copy it into SD card root.

  1. how?!
  2. I found 4 different types of FAT16.
  3. this files are only on google code and here
I has 1gb kingston and still couldn’t save forms.
When i’m pressing A+OK it says Write finish, but FS FL couldn’t load/save.

Could somebody give working instructions for formating in linux ?
