Xiao ESP32S3 Battery Options

I have soldered a 3.7V Lithium battery to my esp32s3, pretty much the same battery as pictured in the wiki, and all is well.

My question: What other battery options do I have? Can I use, for example, a 3.2v LiFePo4 battery? Would there be any concerns with the charging functionality? I am charging over 5v USBC connection.

I checked the data sheet for the SGM40567, and it lists Li-Ion Phosphate Battery as suitable, but I’d feel better if anyone has real life experience with these batteries on the xiao that they can share.

Also, it would be super helpful if Seeed can improve on their documentation. I see that they are trying hard to add as much information as possible, but they still have a long way to go. The SGM40567-4.2XG/TR is no where mentioned in their specs (as far as I can see), except for, on an image of the charger circuit. Better than nothing.

Thanks.

Hi there,
I would suggest you keep all your questions in one thread, It is all pertaining to the Xiao and you need to keep track, many have already been answered, you the search icon up top and ask any questions you may have lots of experienced smart folks on here willing to help.
If you have a code question please post it using the Code tags above also </> just past it in there.
I have several battery examples on here and the schematics are always available on the wiki’s for the different Xiao’s the battery charge/management chips vary from model to model so be mindful of charge currents and always use a battery with Over/Under SOC protection.
