The XIAO ESP32 module footprint appears to have a red hatched area under the module. When mounting the XIAO on a PCB, can the area under the module have a ground polygon pour, or should this area not have any copper other than the required traces for connections on the bottom of the module?

AFAIK , Not a KEEP out Zone, I always used the full monty on Ground Plane , Have had Zero Issues,
I do refrain from placing components directly adjacent to the End near the Antennae’ 
Just a preference…YMMV
