XIAO ESP32-C3 with NIMH battery

I’m working on a remote controller project. Initially I designed the hardware to accept a LiPo pack as XIAO can run on it and charge it however my young puppy has a tendency to chew on things and I don’t want her to get her teeth into a LiPo pack.
Without changing my design much, if I could provide a 3.6V to battery pins, say from 3xAAA NiMH batteries, would the onboard battery IC complain?
Obviously charging it via XIAO is no-go but I don’t need that facility as I can just change batteries.

Hi there,
Yes that would work as well.even a coin cell can be used @ 3.3V
