welcome ā¦ yes this is a very easy projectā¦ but you will have to do alot of studying to learn the programmingā¦ are you up for it? This is the right place to come! we would be happy to helpā¦ but you will have to do the heavy lifting
I have been coding for 35+ years, so I am confident that side of the project will be manageable. But the hardware? I know nothing. Is this too obvious. The sensor has three wires, two must be for power, the third signals it sees something.
Could I draw the power from the ESP32S3 and use one of the GPIO pins to connect the third wire? I would then look at the value coming to it to know if the sensor sees something?
Yes, I did. But I never studies electronics so much of it went over my head, as I said I am software guy at heart. I will go with your suggestion to use the mmWave sensor. This looks by far the optimum solution.
Although the grove extension looks good too? Do you have any experience of using it?
Hi there,
No such thing as a stupid question hereā¦
You can indeed use the PIR to trigger the S3 to perform a specific function like take a picture or turn on an LED.
There are several threads on here with the PIR being used to interrupt the Xiao to do something special as a result of motion or light. Definitely look those over.
The MMwave radar usage may be a taller standard, but is also doable.
Start with the Xiao and Light the LED when you press a button connected to the input pin.
go basic then move to the bigger picture.
The Expansion boards are AWESOME, makes using this stuff more bullet proof!
Get the one with the display and buttons and Sd card already on it. plus 4 grove connectors will make connecting the PIR later easier.
Cgwaltney, knows those well and suggest a good unit for the final build.(you can make it small)
check out the expansion board thread demos on here for some additional ideas.
