Use GPRS Shield (SIM900) as standalone

Is it possible to use it as a standalone device and is it possible to trigger the I/O’s?
Want to use it as a simple SMS controller to trigger a solenoid.

Hello,

GPRS Shield is designed to be used with an Arduino compatible board. It is not designed to be uses a standalone device. It require a MCU board to control.
