USB drive "Arduino" not showing up on MacOS 10.15.5 when in bootloader mode

I followed the wiki and was successfully able to upload a test LED blinking program within Arduino IDE and all works well.

Now I wanted to upload Ardupy’s firmware and followed the instructions there as well, I’ve successfully set the Wio Terminal to boot in bootloader mode (blue LED breaths slowly), however no USB mass storage device shows up in MacOS. This is what I get from lsusb:

Bus 020 Device 000: ID 0a5c:4500 Broadcom Corp. BRCM20702 Hub
Bus 020 Device 000: ID 05ac:828d Apple Inc. Bluetooth USB Host Controller
Bus 020 Device 004: ID 05ac:8511 Apple Inc. FaceTime HD Camera (Built-in) Serial: CCGD6U00RMFDYPF0
Bus 020 Device 003: ID 1058:1111 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. My Book 1111 Serial: 574341565932333535393338
Bus 020 Device 015: ID 2886:002d 2886 Wio Terminal Serial: A922BB295337433838202020FF134637
Bus 000 Device 001: ID 1d6b:LPTH Linux Foundation USB 3.0 Bus

Any hints on what can be the cause for this and what to do to avoid it?

Thanks a lot!

Hi @giorgiomassa, Looks like bootloader mode is not enabled.

To Enter Bootloader:

This is very useful when Wio Terminal crashes or somehow USB serial is not showing up in Arduino IDE. Slide the switch twice very quickly , as followed:

Hi, it is indeed in bootloader mode, the blue led is “breathing” slowly exactly as mentioned.

Do you have a spare computer, may be give it a try on other PC. This sounds similar to this: Unbrick Wio Terminal

Let me know how it goes

Yeah thanks @ansonhe97, once I’ve put the Wio terminal on a Windows PC the drive was visibile, I’ve copied the Ardupy bootloader on it and now I can use it without problems on my MacOS as I can see the “Ardupy” drive. I think it would be great to quickly update the wiki to mention to MacOS users that this may happen while they try to flash Ardupy on the Wio Terminal. Thanks a lot!

Noted, glad that it works
