T1000-a/b/c vs T1000-e Update

… From Discord Server… Anonamous Author…

I’ve read through everyone’s thoughts and constructive discussions on product, and I would like to explain as the product manager for Seeed to help everyone better understand the differences between the product versions, and also to eliminate any unnecessary misunderstandings. The following diagram roughly clarifies the differences between the two products, T1000-A/B and T1000-E. They are not only different in color but also have different hardware circuits inside, using different chips. Each product has its specific positioning and serves targeted markets. The T1000-A/B was introduced in 2023 and exists solely to serve the LoRaWAN market. It uses a Goodix SoC with a higher development difficulty, so we provide it with the final firmware pre-packaged for LoRaWAN customers to use. This is also a very popular product that has been widely adopted in many industries. However, it is not particularly easy to open up to embedded developers because the SoC is challenging to learn, and we do not want to add extra learning costs by open-sourcing this solution. The T1000-E was developed later specifically for Meshtastic, using a more developer-friendly MCU platform, the nRF52840. Switching to this SoC makes it easier to support future open-source hotspot projects. While Meshtastic is the direct reason for the birth of this version, feedback from current users shows that it is also very popular. We will continue to optimize product iterations together with the official Meshtastic developers to bring better user experiences. So, I want to say that because everyone is discussing from different perspectives, there will be different opinions. First, I would like to thank everyone for their attention and love for these two products, but I also hope you can understand that each product has its own positioning and target market. Thank you.

Looking at the update instructions it says to find the SenseCap Mate app (doesn’t exist). I found a SenseCraft app, but scanning the QR code on the t1000 doesn’t work and trying to enter the EUI cuts the S/N short. Have no idea what the key would be either. Thoughts?

I will check… like you say senseCap Mate was replaced by SenseCraft … I will bet it was not updated in the system… I will check with my guys

Appreciate it much! Just getting started. Just got my Ham technicians license as well, but just wanted to see if I could setup a Meshtastic network for the property to get the kiddo and wife on. Waiting on my WisMesh mini repeater to set up at the house to use with the three t1000s I picked up.

I would say update to T1000-E i dont think the A/B/C is meshtastic capable because it has an older chip… but it works on non-meshtastic LoRa
