SIM900 Mini Firmware Update Error

Have 2 SIM900 Mini V3.8.2 Modules. Successfully updated the firmware on one, following the steps here:

http://acoptex.com/wp/basics-project-105b-sim900a-gsm-gprs-module-how-to-flash-another-firmware/

But the other module cleared the flash but when it went to write the new firmware it shows the “ERROR Set writing flash error! (264)”. I couldn’t find any help manuals or posts about error 264 except this one: http://amichalec.net/2014/08/03/sim900a-fixed-for-europe/
where a guy in the comments asks about this error with no response. Any help or link to the developer of the “SIM900 Series download Tools Develop 1.9” software would be greatly appreciated

UPDATE
I tried to use the other software recommended by the guide i followed above “Simcom - sim900 Customer flash loader V1.01” and it just worked. Same setup just different software worked for one board. Hope this helps someone

I don’t see anything in the wiki that says you need to update the firmware to use it.

Indeed you do not for a lot of the features. I was able to use the factory firmware just fine. However i was wanting to sending data to a “https” server not just “http” and for this a firmware update was required.

I had the same issue. Then I tried “SIM900 Customer flash loader V1.01” but also got errors. Then I changed the speed in “SIM900 Customer flash loader V1.01” to 115200 and it flashed successfully.

There is a known issue that in some cases the Genie Mini firmware update will fail and you will be prompted with a ‘Failed Firmware Update’ error message. In this situation, the Genie Mini charging indicator LED will flash red, indicating that the device is in SAFE mode as there is no firmware currently loaded. The battery indicator will have a question mark and read as empty - this doesn’t mean there is an issue with the battery, it’s just a response to the firmware error. Please follow the steps below to get back up and running.

Please click here to troubleshoot firmware update failures on Genie Mini II, Genie II Linear or a Genie II Pan Tilt.
