Setting BAUDRATE>38400 bricks BT shield?

This has happened twice - after successfully connecting 38400 via SoftwareSerial, I’ve tried to up the baud to 57600, and then after the Aruduino reboots, the green light blinks, but there is no red light. I’m unable to change the baud back to 38400, I’m guessing because the shield is stuck at 57600 and SoftwareSerial is unable to go above 38400. Thus the shield is effectively bricked, unless there’s another way to change the baud. Is there anything that can be done about this?

I finally managed to fix this by purchasing an Arduino Mega, connecting the hardware serial as per the directions in this thread,

and dialing the baud rate back to 38400
