Seeed Studio Odyssey, OpenWRT, and eMMC

Hi, I’m able to configure OpenWRT on a USB stick and boot into it just fine following these instructions:

https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/ODYSSEY-X86J4105-Installing-openwrt/

The issue is with running OpenWRT without a USB stick. I (and others) specifically bought the unit with the eMMC storage so we wouldn’t need to use a USB stick. Problem is, it doesn’t seem to work.

Can you please provide instructions on how to install OpenWRT directly to the eMMC storage? Thank you!

Hi,

The official’s OpenWRT doesnt seem to have the option for installing to a specific drive. You may check out some custom mod openwrt firmware for X86. For example, something like this: https://github.com/xiaoqingfengATGH/HomeLede

Thanks for the update. I bought a new USB thumbdrive, a very slim tiny one and that works. It was the profile of my previous drive that bothered me, I didn’t want a large USB thumbdrive sticking out – it’s easy to break and doesn’t look pleasing to the eye. Looks very nice now. I’m actually liking that I run the OS from a USB thumbdrive as it’s easier to backup.
