Hi,



I am finding some Far-Field Microphone System for the development of a new product.



I may be wrong to post in this group ‘ReSpeaker’. If I post this question in the wrong location, please inform and correct it. Thanks in advance.



Last week I used the searching engine within this forum by using ‘far-field microphone’, I get 2 suggested items and one of them is below.


  1. ReSpeaker Mic Array v2.0

    All of them are ‘on hold’ out-of-stock but not in End-of-Life (EOL).



    But today, I see this item is available. Good news to me.



    Do you know the availability status of this item?



    Will the mass production for this similar product be stopped due to some issues?



    I need the long term reliable supply of this (maybe) far-field microphone system for a certain period (at least 2 years to be phased out with new technology).







    Second question: our application is for detecting incoming voice from 180 degrees, not from 360 degrees in a room environment.



    Will the performance of ReSpeaker Mic Array v2.0 be affected by this application?



    or



    Will a new version for 180-degree voice input detection of this item be required?



    Please advise.



    I want to learn more about the application of the far-field microphone system.

Here are my comments for your questions:

  1. Availability

    There are two SKUs of the similar Mic Array below. And the difference it that the latter is with enclosure (and there is tiny difference in PCB as well)

    There is no EOL plan for these two SKUs and the out-of-stock is led by the big quantity orders in last months.


  2. Incoming direction of voice:

    ReSpeaker Mic Array v2.0 supports 360-degree voice pick-up and it can also be applied to the 180-degree scenario.

The ReSpeaker Mic Array v2.0 is a hardware-based solution for creating or adding voice interface to your projects. The board is a far-field microphone array device capable of detecting voices up to 5m away even with the presence of background noise. The onboard hardware enabled algorithms are powered by the XMOS XVF-3000.

The first thing you may notice is the reduction of microphones. With the improved performance of the XMOS XVF-3000, including the improved full duplex AEC, we’ve been able to deliver increased performance with fewer microphones, and thus a lower cost.
