Respeaker Core: CAN Bus Connectivity & Kernel Sources

I would like to ask whether it is possible to connect directly the original Respeaker Core to a CAN Bus via its serial port? If this is not possible, does it make any sense to use the grove port with back-to-back grove i2c-to-uart, and uart-to-can bus adaptors?

Also, it would be nice to provide the original respeaker openwrt Linux kernel source files?
