I just purchased the ZDAUTO Cape MIO M5S I/O for the BBB. I thought it would be neat to try out.

I have gone over the schematic and datasheet.
I cannot figure out what exactly M5S is currently. Is this a miniature PLC logic adapter or is it what ZDauto.com people came up w/ during their years in business? I am not too familiar w/ PLC now but I am willing to learn more.
If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
