Raspberry 5 with respeaker 4 no soundcards found

Running a raspi 5 and installed the respeaker 4-mic array HAT. The only thing that actually works in the setup are the lights. The card is not recognised no matter what i try.
I tried both pulseaudio and pipewire. But the problem must be deeper, at driver/kernel level.
Here is some data

ls /lib/modules/6.1.0-rpi8-rpi-2712/updates/dkms/

snd-soc-ac108.ko.xz snd-soc-seeed-voicecard.ko.xz snd-soc-wm8960.ko.xz

dmesg |grep seeed

[ 2.017909] snd_soc_seeed_voicecard: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel.

arecord -l

arecord: device_list:274: no soundcards found…

Linux raspberrypi 6.1.0-rpi8-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.1.73-1+rpt1 (2024-01-25) aarch64 GNU/Linux

What also happens is that after i try install the drivers (no errors during install) and i reboot, the system is so slow, it´s working in rewind basically. “top” doesn´t show anything out of the ordinary though, its not swapping... Ive been through all postings regarding no cards found, and i just see a lot of frustration but no real solution.
Any ideas how to move forward?
