Newbie here. I am searching for a system to place in my pastures to deter coyotes. My thought is an AI object detection system. I purchased the XIAO/Grove Vision/Pi Cam combo. I set it up and used the Seeed Studio web page to load it with detection models. I haven’t been able to find models for coyotes specifically. I don’t know if it can distinguish most dogs from coyotes. Missed ID is not a good situation. False ID is not very bad, I plan to use a pepper spray, lights and sound to run the off.
So I say plan, but it is mostly an idea. I know the edge computing can do this. I don’t have the background education to easily accomplish this. I would like to deploy several of these units, so low cost is a major consideration.
Do y’all agree that the Seeed/Grove Vision/Pi Cam is up to the task?
Are there any systems that are close enough to this that I can modify for my use?
How hard is it to create a new model for an object (such as a coyote)?
Thanks
Start with pre-trained models for general animal detection and observe the results. If you don’t find the hardware sufficient after some testing, consider alternatives like Raspberry Pi 4 or NVIDIA Jetson Nano.

probably going to need an external IR light source
