My first question. How do you re-charge the battery? Turn the unit off and plug in the USB? Is there limit control to prevent overcharging? Is it rapid charge to 90% then trickle charge to full? Please advise?

you can charge it without turn off the unit.

Yes, Lipo Rider charger IC will manage charge the battery, it rapid charge the battery to 90% then trickle charge to full.
