Hi there,

This does not work immediately after boot. The chip on the Flick board first has to be reset by a low pulse on GPIO 17 before i2c detection will work. If you have the gpio program installed (sudo apt-get install wiringpi) then use the following one-liner to reset the Flick and check its presence immediately after boot:
gpio mode 17 out<span style="color: rgb(215, 58, 73);" gpio write 17 0<span style="color: rgb(215, 58, 73);" gpio write 17 1<span style="color: rgb(215, 58, 73);" i2cdetect -y 1

I did that. I also installed the github software and none of the examples worked. I think it’s DOA and I would like to return it for a refund

Chris - would you mind taking a look at this?

    Hi there,

If possible can you send me a photo of the Flick HAT where the components
are on the underside. Nothing stands out other than what you have tried
before, the board may need reseting before it can be detected after a boot.
Also you may want to try a new OS install, as some users in the past have
had success with a new fresh install.
