No music - MMC Problems

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Attach Arduino and Music shield ver 1.03
  2. Compile and upload musicshield v 1.0
  3. Power via USB

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
No music played. The green play light stayed solid. The red volume light did not light. No music played. Buttons were not responding. Arduino lights on.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Windows Vista, Arduino ver 0018, Arduino Duemilanove, “Dane-Elec DA-2IN1-02G-R Micro SD Flash Card with Adapter - 2GB, Class 2”

Please provide any additional information below.
I did a simple debug and found the software is hanging below RebootMMC() in mmc.cpp. Is this a problem with an incompatible SD card?

It is most probably the problem of incompatible SD card, try to format them into FAT16, or FAT32, plug in, and plug out,

Sorry Ioer, we did not test many kinds of SD card.

Thanks for the response, and sorry for my delay getting back.

The Dane-Elec 2GB did not work, but I’m glad to report that the SanDisk microSD card you recommended works great.
