I have the Grove 0.54 inch Red Dual Alphanumeric Display hooked on a Seeeduino Nano (plus a UV sensor), powered by a 5V powerbank over the USB-C connector.
Everything worked fine until this morning. As usual I plugged-in the powerbank, the display showed a number as expected, then after about 10s it went black (not normal) and the blue PWR led on the Nano started flashing rapidly.
When I hook the Nano on the serial monitor I get normal outputs: the Nano and the sensor are working fine.
Unplugging the display and plugging it back in makes it work for about 1s now, then it goes black.
I think my display is electrically toast, but is it?
Is there anything that can be done to verify this is a different way?
Thanks but I did. The wiki wasn’t useful.
This is a working UV detector fully build in a 3D printed enclosure that has been working for 6 months now.
I’m a software engineer and unfortunately not an electronics engineer. How does one test that display?
I feel very ashamed that our Wiki is not very helpful to you. I hope to ask you some specific questions. Are there any mistakes in the content? Or where there are imperfections. @svdb
The module is inexpensive so I just bought another one. Now my device is working again and I can confirm that the previous display has an issue.
I wish I could find the information on how to find what is wrong with it.
