I think I broke my xiao

I was testing a code where the xiao acts as a WiFi access point. I was trying to make sure it would not overheat and had a temp sensor taped to it. The temp seemed stable at 39 C so I left the room to test the WiFi range, but around halfway through testing, I lost connection. At first I thought I was too far away but when I came back to the xiao, it’s red charge light was flashing, and it was rapidly heating up, as in faster than my 3D printer’s print bed. When I unplugged it, It had reached about 50 C, so I let it cool down, and plugged it back in hoping it would work normally. It did not, instead, the light started flashing again, and it heated up, It only took 10 seconds to reach 45 C. I can’t reflash it, and the boot button no longer works. Now the xiao only seems to do one thing, which is to heat up.

If anyone has any advice, questions, or knows what the flashing means, please let me know.

This code worked fine on my C3, so I don’t know why this happened. Do I need a new Xiao, or is there a way to save this one.

Welcome… Which XIAO model? sounds like a short of some kind

I think your right, its a Xiao ESP32S3

interesting? we have noticed similar issues… you wouldnt happen to have a thermal camera?

Sorry, I don’t. I do have a temperature probe, so I may be able to find the hottest spot.
Also I don’t know if it matters but the bottom heats up fastest, right on the thermal pad.

interesting… i messaged my guy at seeed… they may want to take a look at it… what is your location?

I’m in Virginia, not sure I want to get much more specific.

thats fine i in Virginia too! I will PM you

I think I found out what happened, From the pictures, It looks like the soldered part of the antenna touched ground, would that kill a Xiao?

thight might do it… how did you manage… can you send a picture?
