How does a Water Level Switch work?

Hi guys,

I am trying to make a Water Level Switch work but I don’t know where to start. I bought it from here: http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/water-level-switch-p-565.html?cPath=156_160

Do I need magnets to pair them with the switch or …?

How do I know when it is at the bottom of the water tank or when the tank is full?
