Hi,
I want to make up a system to measure the level in my water tank on my motor home. I don’t want to put sensors into the side of the tank (already have one of those but it is very coarse with only 3 levels) so am thinking to use a ToF sensor mounted in the cap of the tank (easily accessible) which I will interface to an Arduino with an LED Bar.

Can the ToF sensor easily sense the water surface? I would prefer to use this as the sensor is much smaller than an ultrasonic sensor.

Also, I am wondering if I mount is it a small plexi-glass box so that it stays dry and am not sure if it will sense the plexi-glass surface?

The ToF is based on spectral reflection, and if it is a transparent surface, this measurement will be inaccurate.
