Can Seeed say why the companion to this product, the Grove IR Sending unit is no longer available?
It used to be backorder for a long time… now i do not even see it on the page

also can this device be used as an IR sender if the apropriate LED is installed?
What is the proper LED product name?

The Infrared Emitter you want is a Grove-Infrared emitter.

The LED you mentioned above is just an ordinary light-emitting diode, without the function of infrared emission.
