Grove - 16 Channel PWM Driver and 5V DC PWM fan

Hi,

Can Grove - 16 Channel PWM Driver (PCA9685) run 5V DC PWM fan like: NF-A9 5V without supplying external power?

If so, any considerations while connecting?

Hi there,

Yea, NOT without External 5V power forsure. (for board , Not Fan)
The fan draws about 261ma.@5v dc.
the ground sync current of the Grove shield is 250 ma. typical, max of 400ma. or 450? per channel.
Read the WiKi carefully EVERYthing about the device is there.
Those noctua fans are very quiet. go by the book is should work very well.

As followed up question: Can I use this grove MOSFET to run any 5V DC fan or 5V DC Air Pump
that as 2 pins without any problem? (The noctua just as 3 pins)

Hi there,
Yes I think it would work, check the wiring to be sure. Also the specs as LED controller are 25ma. sync and 10ma. supply so it can turn the mosfet on and off easy.
