Hello,
My ethernet ports are not detected by the OS - I’ve tested with Ubuntu 20 and Windows 10.
It’s just as if they were non-existant.
When plugging an ethernet cable, the LEDs on the ports blink normally, so the ports are not completely dead.
In Windows device manager, I only have the WiFi related devices.
I checked in the BIOS: both LAN1 and LAN2 are enabled.
Is there something I should check / try?
Best regards,
Frederic
Further information: the UEFI shell ‘pci’ command does not list the two Gb ethernet devices, only the wifi one.
Not sure if this is relevant, but I’ve seen here a test of the Odyssey, where the ethernet devices are listed as being attached on PCIe with respectively bus=02/device=00 and bus=03/device=00 (and wifi on bus=00/device=0C).
On my Odyssey, I see the same attachment for wifi, but bus 02/device=00 is the VGA card.
Is that normal?
Can you try to update to the latest BIOS and reinstall the original Windows OS and see if they work properly?
I already tried that, with no luck (though the new ‘G’ firmware and the EC update did solve the fan issues).
I also tried to unplug power and battery, let the Odyssey rest for a few minutes, then plug the power back and press the power button a few seconds (I believe this is the procedure to reset a few things): no improvement.
That being said, I think the problem cannot be at OS level, since the UEFI shell itself does not ‘see’ these peripherals, below the OS layer.
For comparison, I have received a 2nd Odyssey unit I had ordered, and the ethernet devices are correctly listed with the UEFI ‘pci’ command. And when I moved my SATA drive from the 1st Odyssey to this one and booted Windows, I saw a notification of new devices found: the ethernet interfaces, and the Seeeduino Cortex M0.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to proceed with further tests; as this may be a hardware glitch with this first unit, I am returning it today to Amazon (today is the last day of my return timeframe).
Once refunded, I will order back another one, I need two of these jewels
Maybe I did a mistake which bricked or disabled something?
And unfortunately I discovered the issue right during your holidays, so it was harder to diagnose.
Anyway, my new Odyssey is working perfectly as a desktop computer and another one is on its way to become my firewall. I am pretty happy with this great little machine!
Best regards,
Frederic
