I am looking to measure the voltage change in a ~1ohm resistor as a constant current of 1A (1W) gets applied to it. The pulse length is very short (~50ms). I am wondering what the most economical way to build this is.
I am hoping to avoid expensive power supplies online and build something myself. Could I just use an AC/DC power cord (similar to a cell phone or laptop power cord), run it through some sort of diode type reducer to get 1A/1W applied to the resistor, and then switch it on/off with a fast relay?
I’ll also need a DAQ to record the change in voltage as the resistor heats up. Any suggestions on cheap DAQs would be greatly appreciated as well.
I am not an electrical engineer, please dumb down your response to help me understand.
Thanks!
