Connect grove bluetooth module to Phone

I’m trying to connect a grove bluetooth module to my phone.

  • I have an arduino uno with grove shield, the module is connected to the grove shield.

  • The pin is powered.

  • It doesn’t appear on my phone or laptop as device

  • it blinks green every second for half a second.

Anyone know why this is?
Any other ways I can connect it?

I could only find a tutorial from 2011 in the wayback machine.

(I’m trying to make the module send a message to my phone when a sensor is activated. I already have the code done.)

Which grove unit?

I have the " Grove - Serial Blueseeed(CSR BC417)".
I was told it would work with that one. (I only have certain parts available)

Which Phone Which APP?

relatively new android and the “serial bluetooth terminal”.

I understand you want to use your existing hardware… but do you know of these devices?

unfortunately I more or less have to use the hardware available to me. (it’s a funded and timed project and they rarely allow for “special orders”)
I am mainly trying to find out whether it’s possible to send messages from an arduino to a phone with the hardware available.
I was told it would work with the bt module but nobody really told me how and the rest is me reading old articles.
If it’s not possible I’d have to find a quick alternative.

Is this like a homework project?

not really, it’s a project from my local university. They do these things where You have 1 week to make a project to a theme. and they give you hardware to work with.

You can use Blynk to manage the connection on the board and design the front-end app on the smartphone.

sounds like it must be posable then
