apply power to matrix via arduino, only see red

Hi,

I’m trying to power my rainbowduino from my arduino mega but when I connect the vcc and the gnd then I only get the red led’s lighting up that are part of the “plug and shine” sketch. When I hook it up to an AC/DC power supply it works fine.

Anybody have any ideas?

connect the power VCC and GND via the power interface: the JST or the green terminator , donot use the vcc and GND pin of the program interface .
And ! the power need more than 6.5V …

As freezing said, there’s probably not enough power going to the matrix. Red it the brightest colour and is usually the last to be shown before a matrix runs out of power (when on batteries)
