😵‍💫 AI, IOT, Home Automation, Matter, Thead, Zigbee...WTH?

I think I need a fatter Head!. :exploding_head:

So this Thread is an Area for Some Home Automation & Automation in General.

Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z-wave, HA, EspHome, They are interrelated and not by mistake. I agree with the swiss guy here, 3:50 and on is worth a listen to what he’s saying It’s true. It’s a Great Place to START to get a basic notion of this stuff and WHY!
(Then come back and read through the rest it will make more sense )

Home Automation Home Assistant STEP : 1

I have just set up a new HA on a NUC (I have two) and will use it to test the different integrations and devices and their interoperability.

I have HomeSeer installed for over 20 years with X-10 device as well as other Zwave do-dads. While it has served me VERY well over the years. I have needed an upgrade for a good while. Everything works Don’t get me wrong… Cameras, Doors , windows, Garage, driveway, notifications, all of it. no issues Home/Away :+1:

But I have Hit the wall, between Voice Assistants like Alexa and some of the newer Locks, Lights and Switches. TOO many hoops for Homeseer to get through. I never had issue with the pay for Model though Buy a Major release version, Get unlimited support and Updates, only pay for plug-in’s made by other manufacturers and makers mostly. Good model.

But not Open…Your at there mercy to fix whatever bug or issue if you have one and you will get the "that’s the Plug-in’s issue, Not ours) The Support forum is great.

ON to the Home Assistant.:sunglasses: :point_right:
I will build some Xiao Devices to test … And have worked with the ESP32C6 DevBrd. to test the launch pad and Alexa compatibility.

I’ll upload the results shortly, Also an Interesting AI discussion on CASETTA devices made by Lutron.

Stay tuned… Both Xiao C3 and C6 as Matter devices.

Hi there,

So first up was the Xiao Relay or The Xiao C3 Matter Relay with Battery bottom :stuck_out_tongue: :ok_hand:
It is Now On the Alexa as XIAO C3 Plug :+1:
I used the ESP LaunchPad to Set GPIO 3 as the RELAY and GPIO 2 as the Button (manual On/Off) and the LED (you can use NeoPixel’s) This is a Matter Wifi endpoint.
I Used the QR-code that the ESP LaunchPad Generated…after Flashing the New Fresh, Xiao ESP32C3 successful message to add it to My Alexa took under a Minute.

A FEW moments Later!

I remixed the the Basic Cover to accommodate the EXT Antenna. then added a Battery Bottom, NeoPixel location (WIP)… I’ll post up the STL’s and Freecad files after.

Works like a BOSS! and looks cool Too!

When Daylight comes I’ll do Some range testing :v:
