Accuracy of Grove GPS

Hi, could you tell me what accuracy the grove GPS unit has and if this could be improved with an antenna and if so which one? Thanks!

Hi @joljols, The Grove GPS based on SIM28 and the sensitivity of tracking and acquisition both reach up to -160dBm and maximum 10Hz update rate.

@joljols What are your needs? Maybe I can give you more recommendations,

Thanks. But accuracy in terms of meters? I am just exploring options at the moment.

The location accuracy will depend on satellite geometry, signal blockage, atmospheric conditions, and receiver design features/quality, here Grove GPS have -160dBm of signal quality and maximum 10Hz update rate which is oke for a DIY project, It might take up to 1 or 2 minutes to get the location.

@Baozhu will help you to find good modules that suitable for your project if you share your application?

also keep in mind

The Global Positioning System (GPS), originally NAVSTAR GPS is a satellite-based radio navigation system owned by the United States government and operated by the United States Space Force

It is one of the global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) that provides geolocation and time information to a GPS receiver anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. Obstacles such as mountains and buildings block the relatively weak GPS signals. (src: Wiki)
