Hello,
I’ve been trying to flash the Jetson Orin NX using the A603 tutorial on the wiki for a while. I’m trying to flash to NVMe drive It keeps failing, either with “Timeout on USB Write” or sometimes “Either the device cannot mount the NFS server on the host or a flash command has failed. Check your network setting to make sure the device can mount NFS sever”.
I’ve tried multiple jetpack versions, changing usb slots, disabling usb autosuspend, disabling the firewall, etc.
I know others have struggled with this, but help would be greatly appreciated! I’m using Ubuntu 24.04.
HI there,
So check further But I think you need to use Ubuntu 24.10 to make the NVME with JetPack and and external enclosure. but not on all of them so Hit the wiki and check everything twice. But the Host machine is the main thing for the drivers and FS to be moved etc, properly.
Search on here to there are many threads regarding the procedure

Hi,
Thanks for your response. I tried 22.04 and 24.10. 22.04 failed the same way with the NFS sever error. 24.1 doesn’t seem to work because many of the prerequistes when I try to run the flash_prerequistes script seem to not be avaiable for this version of Ubuntu. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hello,
I checked the device log using UART, and it seems that it’s failing due to the Jetson overheating. I don’t have a fan installed. Is that usually required just to flash?
Here is the end of the log:

Hi there,
Yes, There are one or two threads on that too, LOL … yep she runs HOT even for flashing, one of the reasons I think super mod on these is a no go , IMO
One of the op’s used a hair dryer(on cold), went AOK all the way through.

Would you say a fan is strongly recommended ALWAYS, even for past flashing? Or can I get away without, especially if I need as small a form factor as possible.
Thank you!
Hi there,
I’m a fan of a “Fan” but anything Heatsink related or Free-Air flow is what is required, check to some of the Users suggestions on the other forums too
