A couple of issues...

My new Nano arrived yesterday 7 January - purchased from NKC in US. Startup screen shows Nano version 1.1 and firmware version 2.02.

I am not an oscilloscope expert, but it seems to work well in my simple tests with built square wave.

I am a little confused by this charging discussion.

My first important questions:

  1. How much of these comments apply to my device and firmware versions??
  2. How should I charge battery first time to prevent any possible damages??

I plan to use one of several old camera or GPS USB cables.

Thank you very much. I am learning much by reading this forum. I am sure I will have more question later, but just want to get started.

Here you can see the changes for the Accu-Charger circuit between the V1.1 and V1.3 hardware version.

(Old) Version 1.1

(New) Version 1.3

One Question: Is the Hardware version 1.3 in production or are all DSO Nano devices out there shipped with Version 1.1 ? (Date: January 2010)

Now is all the 1.3 , but just the R21 and D3 on the board. the charge circuit: U1 R27 R11 R10 Q1 is not soldered .

Charging li-Ion in the hardcore way ?

At first I never had any intentions not even in my mind to open my DSO,
since there were already great shots on the inner parts of the DSO unassembled at the blog, but these posts made me curious…So I had to open it to see for myself.

To my surprise, I have all the SS removed parts except for the D3 diode. Mine is charging perfectly fine. And have no major complaints so far. (However, mine is not a SS DSO Nano).

Here are some pics, sorry the imagesize is quite big:

I bought my DSO Nano 20 days ago, and arrived yesterday. But the loading screen shows v1.1
Do i have a charger IC? or just the diode?

It’s still charging without IC yet since no issue reported on current charging circuit . Answering to the concerns, we will add them in the future version. Thanks!
